If you can get them off line and get a synch point before re-starting
processing then you get the best of both worlds. It will be a much shorter
time than a save. I have seen reductions from a save of two hours down to 15
minutes to get a checkpoint.

If you use *SYNCLIB on the SAVACT parameter then the system will save the
libraries as at a common checkpoint across the libraries. Once the common
checkpoint is reached it sends a message.

You won't know how long it will take to get a check point until you try.

Alternatives:
- get a HA product and replicate to another library on the same machine.
- Journal everything and get a save at least once a week
- Get the email Rob described
