a 570, that is not on hardware maintenance, is phoning IBM with a hardware
problem.

The system is running, but it is no doubt sending the warning for a good
reason. The system is scheduled to be disconnected in 30 days, so the owner
is going to be reluctant to pay IBM to repair it.

See below for the details. My question is if a hardware failure is being
reported on what is the test partition, will the eventual failure of that
hardware affect the primary, production partition?

the 570 has two partitions. When I PRTERRLOG on the production partition,
what I assume is the primary partition, there is the message:
"B60069C1 a failure occurred on another system"

on the test system is a message in the QSYSOPR message log:

Message ID . . . . . . : CPPEA38 Severity . . . . . . . : 99

Message type . . . . . : Information

Date sent . . . . . . : 04/01/09 Time sent . . . . . . : 07:20:20

Message . . . . : *Attention* Contact your hardware service provider now.

Cause . . . . . : A system error has occurred.

Recovery . . . : Contact your hardware service provider and provide the

following list of possible failing items:

53P5070

80P3901

------------------

a web search shows 53P5070 as a fan assembly and 80P3901 as a service
processor card.

PRTERRLOG on this system basically reports a system ref code of 1100 7610
with a secondary code of 003C 0001.

thanks for the help,
