One small example of little things that indicate something should be
recustomized is this example:
Many moons ago we upgraded a version of OS and lost all of our job queue
entries in the QBATCH subsystem description. Then we made it a point to
always save it - do the upgrade - and restore it. Turns out IBM fixed
that issue long ago but since we had been doing this for so long that our
subsystem description had a V2R1 level on it and by our doing the restore
we had perpetuated the problem. Basically IBM would not modify your
QBATCH subsystem description if it was from that far back.
We ended up recreating the subsystem from scratch. Actually we took the
new version and added all our mods to it. Took a few api's to ensure that
we didn't miss any entries. The next upgrade went smooth.
