Hmm, i don't think that has anything to do with the fact that they're
in different domains. It might hinder automatic authentication, but it
will not hinder manual authentication.

Get Network Monitor or Wireshark on the job - my suspect would be that
you either have a problem with SMB signing (most likely) or with the
allowed hashing algorithms. But these things are likely a result of
group policies. Run rsop.msc on a PC in the old domain, and run
rsop.msc in the new domain. Compare the output.
