What is the QCCSID system value set on your system and what CCSID do you set on your user profiles?

QCCSID = 37
Most profiles have CCSID = *SYSVAL however ...

I have nine secondary languages installed and profiles set up to use those language environments. I have a subsystem configured with the appropriate sign-on screen and language library for each language environment. I have workstation name entries in those subsystems to allocate devices that start with the appropriate LANGID. I have a routing program in each subsystem that sets the job LANGID, CNTYRID, CCSID, DATFMT, DATSEP, TIMSEP, DECFMT, and LOCALE appropriately.

Thus a user who needs to use a given language environment starts an emulation session with an appropriate device name which causes them to be routed to the appropriate subsystem. During sign-on the routing program correctly configures their environment.

For example: User JOE signs on to a QPADEV* device and gets an English environment. When the same user signs on to a DEU* device they get a German environment. If a JPN* device is used they get a Japanese environment.

Simple eh?

He says still amazed by the number of responses showing sites continuing to use QCCSID = 65535. What is it you American's say? "Get with the program" or something.

Simon Coulter.
