Hello Vern...

We could do that, but it does not fit with my future planning. The
current need is for an immediate production job that must go in place
shortly. My overall objective is to produce a process that will allow us
to be able to select and connect multiple fields together and produce a
csv for client needs that an Ops person can use. That said, I want
something a bit more robust and less dependant on commands built by IBM
(like the CPYTO series commands), which if they decide to change them
requires changes to the code (and I hate going back over old code). The
article Scott mentioned concerning QShell, plus other notes on writing to
the IFS directly are where I'm looking to go. It means I can build a
process that I can walk away from for a few years and not have to worry
about when a new release of the o/s comes along.

Once we get the existing job out of the way, of course.

Have a good day.

Blake - since you already format it for CSV, I recommend what someone
already said, with a slight change - create the PF with CRTPF and
RCDLEN(1000) or whatever - you can still write to it. CPYTOSTMF will do
just fine with that.

Hello Jeff...

Bang on the money.

Once we get this into production, I think we'll look at Scott's IFS
options and see what time permits us to build.

Have a good day.

Ok, here is the problem, you are telling the process to add a double
qoute

around each field in your file, since you have only one field it is
adding

it at the start and after the last position of he field. For the STRDLM

use *NONE.
