I'm not sure exactly what you are asking - but ...

I have 2 IBM i servers, one has 2 lpars and all are controlled by one HMC.

I have a 5250 session set up to connect to the HMC via ethernet, and often
get on the hmc via the 5250 over the VPN from my house.

I start one session, connect through the HMC as console to a machine/lpar,
then start another session, connect to a different machine/lpar through the
HMC.

Is that what you are asking? If so the answer is yes.

The 5250 (iSeries access) has the following setup under communication >
Configure;

System name is the IP address or name of your HMC.
Port 2300

Under properties;
Use default User ID, prompt as needed
user id = Q#HMC

Once set up, you can connect multiple times to the same HMC.

Is there a way to run multiple simultaneous dsp01 console sessions from
a single HMC so that I can work in a restricted state on two LPARS at
the same time remotely over a VPN line?

I tried this with my normal iSeries Access and it seemed to only allow
one at a time.
