Madoff used mainframes. I placed a Project Manager there in 2002. They wanted to move to Oracle but the MF folks refused so they fired my guy but after a year or so. He may have had the iseries for his private hedge fund co tho.

Yep. They were hiring recently, I was real tempted to apply, but my
choices for a place to live are currently too restrictive. I probably
should have applied, and then only later considered such stuff if
offered a position. I am too polite however; i.e. no reason to waste
their time until I am committed to accepting a job if offered.

Maybe you could post an evaluation [even if not in comparison to
another such account] about your experience with their product\services.
I have thought about getting an account, but having some input might
be nice before making the plunge.

Sorry to bring this back up, but I opened a Scottrade account last

Imagine my surprise when I see the broker pull up a nice green screen
interactive session on his PC to set this up. I said "Is that an
iSeries?" and of course he had no idea what I was talking about.
When I finally got him to realize that I was talking about the system
he was connected to and not the box on his desk he clicked "About"
and said "You're right, it says Reflections for IBM."

So maybe the iSeries IS ideal for trading stocks...
