It sounds to me like you're looking for materialized query tables

(i.E. indexed views).

Wow, thanks for that. I didn't even know an indexed view is possible.
Sounds exactly like what I was hoping for! Are these available on V5R4? On
the page linked, it seems more DB2 generic than i specific. Guess I will
try one and see what happens...
