Thanks for the heads up on that Vern. I only have access to IBM supported
versions (v5r3-v6r1) so I can't tell when IBM started that support.
Searching the manuals for that little tidbit information is exercise in
futility, so James will just have to test it on that release.
Peter Dow offered an interesting alternative.
UDFs are a viable alternative in this case, since all solutions will involve
a table scan any way and using wouldn't hamper performance much. I am fairly
certain UDFs availability started in V4R4 so he should be good there.

As for staying warm, it's very difficult. Penguins start fainting at these
temperatures :)

At V5R1 I think that does not work, to have the expressions inside the
IN values list. Does this work at a more recent release? And James he is
talking V4R4 as a minimum release.
