I just tested to a PCL5e printer from V5R4 and got clean Maxicode, Data Matrix and PDF417.
The information is in IBM Technical Document 13481357 IBM OS/400 Support for Two-Dimensional Bar Codes - MaxiCode, PDF417 and Data Matrix
You can do it with PRTF type *AFPDS using the properly coded DDS BARCODE.
1. If you are printing to an *IPDS printer, it MUST support these 2D bar codes, not all IPDS printers do so.
2. If you are using host print transform (TRANSFORM(*YES)), you must be V5R4 or higher. Older versions simply world not generate.
If you don't have an up to date IPDS printer or V5R4 or higher there are products such as Cybra's that will create 2D's without V5R4.
I'll send any one that wants this sample code. There are some data formatting challenges and definitely have current Print PTFs loaded and applied before attemting.
