Thanks all. CDW called the client. They have a bad power supply.

Subject: Re: How to IPL an 820?

It sounds like the system is entirely shut down. Once the white power
button is pressed, a green power LED should come on, and SRC codes
should
appear on the front panel. These SRC codes will change as the system
IPLs.
Some of the SRC code change quickly, some may stay the same for several
minutes.

If the yellow fault light comes on, the system has encountered a fault.
The IPL may stop or it may continue, depending on the fault.

The cursor on the console will be in the top right corner, until the
system starts looking for the console, then it will shift to the top
left
corner.

Good luck with this!

How to IPL an 820?

A client called saying no one can access their 820. The green screen
console has a cursor in the upper right hand corner. Client said he had
keys that he thought he needed to IPL. He saw no SRC codes on front of
panel.

1) Could it have powered down and is coming back up? I thought the
cursor would be on left side.

They do not have IBM hardware support but I asked him to check with CDW
who does support the machine.
2) If all else fails, does someone know how to IPL this?

Thank you,
Bonnie Lokenvitz
