Probably too late for many of you that save data libraries at year end
into save files but I ran some time and space trials here that may
interest you.

SAVOBJ OBJ(ITH*) LIB(GDIDIVF) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(ROB/ROB)
Start End Duration Size Size %
10:54:47 10:59:05 0:04:18 7,681,892,352 100.0%

SAVOBJ OBJ(ITH*) LIB(GDIDIVF) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(ROB/ROB) DTACPR(*HIGH)
Start End Duration Size Size %
11:00:07 11:20:29 0:20:22 2,796,576,768 36.4%

SAVOBJ OBJ(ITH*) LIB(GDIDIVF) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(ROB/ROB) ACCPTH(*NO)
DTACPR(*HIGH)
Start End Duration Size Size %
11:21:48 11:27:53 0:06:05 404,774,912 5.3%

SAVOBJ OBJ(ITH*) LIB(GDIDIVF) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(ROB/ROB) ACCPTH(*NO)
DTACPR(*MEDIUM)
Start End Duration Size Size %
11:29:55 11:34:18 0:04:23 735,076,352 9.6%

SAVOBJ OBJ(ITH*) LIB(GDIDIVF) DEV(*SAVF) SAVF(ROB/ROB) ACCPTH(*NO)
Start End Duration Size Size %
11:35:59 11:39:34 0:03:35 3,595,067,392 46.8%

Hey, remember that a drop from 9.6% to 5.3% is almost cutting it in half.
Granted, when you've already dropped it from 100% to 9.6% it's hard to
grasp the significance.

Now, unless the odds are slim to none that you will restore data from
these save files then I would not recommend not saving the access paths.
Without them your restore may seem fast but you may notice the QDBSRV*
family of system jobs rebuilding indexes - for days.

I am wondering if this would save significant space for those special year
end saves that you almost never use the data from
OMITOBJ((*ALL *LF))
if it was available. Apparently IBM only allows you to specify *FILE and
does not allow you to specify object "attribute".
How many would omit LF's if this capability were available?

We used to have one application that had all their LF's (and only their
LF's) begin with 'Z'.
