Subject: Re: SEU vs. RDi vs. ?

SEU is not bundled with the iSeries, then again, neither are the
compilers. SEU and the compilers are in the LPP 5761WDS.

Dinosaurs adapt well to SEU. However, since none of you are
"contaminated" this would be a good time to start out with RDi.

Since you are coming from a mainframe shop management should have no
problem throwing money at the cost of RDi. Considering that
a crippled
down version of the RPG compiler (simply for the sake of SAA
compatibility) cost $199k+ on the mainframe.

Rob, spending __any__ money will be looked at askance. The reason given
to move from z to i is to minimize expense. If SEU was ever "free", then
management is going to scream if they have to pay now. I honestly wonder
why management here has not determined to convert the entire shop to
Linux and not bother to buy a support contract. But I am in a red rage
right now (not about this possible conversion), so my opinion of
management is suspect.
