I've bought used midrange memory a few times; it's a nice way to save money.

The other option, if possible, is to bite the bullet & upgrade now instead of next year.

I had a similar situation with a customer just last week. They elected
to go with "used" memory which was much lower than the IBM cost for 8GB
(feature 4449, I think). Even if it was a "throw away" they will
probably sell it back to a used parts outfit when they replace the 520.

Check with Bert Reyes at Midland Information Systems (407-571-3122) and
see what it would cost for 8GB - I guarantee it will be MUCH less than
direct from IBM. The used parts are covered by HWMA as well.
