Bryan,

Usually when running a query the command looks like:

RUNQRY QRYDFN

Because the QRFDFN hard codes the library for each file, we need to override that in order to promote to production and have it work. So our query commands in the CL look like:

RUNQRY QRY(QRYDFN) QRYFILE((FILE))

This way the command takes on *LIBL for the library location and the command is executed with the first occurrence of the file in the library list.

You don't have to put every file in the query in the command line but you do have to have them in the same order. If you need to point the query to the proper first file, just include the first file, the query will locate the other files where they are hard code. If you only need to point to the second file properly you will have the mention the first and second files in order to change the second file.

Thanks,

Marvin

subject: Changing the primary file in a query

Is there some way of changing the primary file in a query definition that has multiple joined files other than re-defining the file ID's and field selections? Like some command or prompt I may be overlooking?
