Seconded. We're an Aldon shop too. No "system" changes required to use
ILE, just need to define the correct object and source types to the CMS.

In Aldon, when we move (RPG or CL) programs from OPM to ILE, we "retire"
(that's the Aldon terminology) the old OPM object, then create separate
*module and *pgm objects. The *module object contains the source code,
while the *pgm is "non source" and is just the container to hold the
final compiled object.

You don't even need to do that. Aldon supports converting an OPM
object into *PGM BND ILE (Uses CRTBNDxxx commands) or a true ILE
*MODULE with a non-source ILE Program. Conversion from OPM to ILE has
been support considerably longer than the ability to retire objects.

In addition, recent (7.4+) version of Aldon support converting from
*FILE PF to *TABLE and *FILE LF to *INDEX SQL or *VIEW SQL

BTW, Aldon's "extended attribute" corresponds to the PDM "Type" column.

No it doesn't. "Attribute" corresponds (roughly) to the PDM "Type" column.
