Thank you Matt, that solved the problem for me.

You need to put the CHOICEPGM() on both the PARM and the QUAL statements

I would create a CL program with DMPCLPGM and see the value of the
command parameter that is passed in. In command prompt position 21 will
be 'C' and in parameter prompt position 21 will be 'P'.

Subject: Choice program problem on a QUAL stmt

I have the following test command:

CMD PROMPT('test file driven prompting')
PARM KWD(FILE) TYPE(FILE1) MIN(1) PROMPT('File:' 1)
FILE1: QUAL TYPE(*NAME) LEN(10) MIN(1) CHOICE(*PGM) +
CHOICEPGM(TSTCHCPGM)
QUAL TYPE(*NAME) LEN(10) DFT(*LIBL) +
SPCVAL((*LIBL)) PROMPT('Library:')

But I am finding that I cannot get the choice program to invoke when I
place a "?" in the file name field. If I have a stand alone PARM for
the file name then the choice program will work correctly. Is there
something special about having a choice program on the first QUAL
statement?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Paul
