The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.
If you know of an easy to use, open source, search engine ... please contact support@midrange.com.
The compile gets submitted to batch, therefore the library list in effect
for the compile may not be what you see in your interactive job.
You should check what job description you are submitting the compile with -
the default is the user profile's job description as far as I can tell.
When you bought over all the data, source and object libraries did you bring
over all the job descriptions and supporting bits and pieces like outqueues,
system values etc ?
Also, did you save and restore the user profiles or create them from scratch
? You may want to compare the QPGMR profile on the two systems as the one on
your older system may have been modified, in particular check the JOBD
parameter.
Just transferring a few libraries across is rarely enough to get a new
machine to work the same way as the original machine, so you may need to
examine what else you need to restore onto the new machine. It might be
easier to build it from a save of your existing machine than adding the
pieces in by trial and error. See the section on "Recovering your server to
a different Server" in the Backup and Recovery guide for more information.

Evan Harris

Subject: Problems compiling
I'm going from an older V5R2 machine to a newer V5R2 machine (more power -
UGH!!!). I FTP'd save files of all data, source, and object libraries over
to the new machine and restored the libraries. I figured I'd have to
compile everything again but no big deal since there aren't that many
programs. I tried running a simple inquiry program and it worked. I then
tried to run a simple update program which reads a file and updates to a 2nd
file. The program blew up saying it couldn't find the file. I figured I
just needed to recompile and when I did (using option 3 on the programmer
menu) I got this pre-compile error:
MSG ID = SQL1001
SEV = 30
RECORD = 44
TEXT = External file definition for ULNXDH not found
Same error message for the output file. Both statements are the F specs for
the input and output files.
I was signed on as QPGMR and the library containing the data files is in the
library list.
Any guidance for things to check would be greatly appreciated.
