Paul,
I have a customer using several of them.
I ditched the Remote Output Queue setup for using the TSPLPRD print driver program (supplied unsupported by IBM) that allows you to create printer drvices (allowing page range support and easier control from WRKWTR) for printers that otherwise support only LPR (Remote OutQ or PC5250 Printer Emulation).
Here's a device description for an LQ2080 (configured for IBM Proprinter Emulation mode) at one of my customers (attached to a Lexmark print server):
CRTDEVPRT DEVD(PRT04) DEVCLS(*LAN) TYPE(3812) MODEL(1) +
LANATTACH(*USRDFN) PORT(0) ATTACH(*DIRECT) ONLINE(*YES) +
FONT(11 *NONE) FORMFEED(*CONT) SEPDRAWER(*FILE) +
PRTERRMSG(*INFO) MSGQ(*LIBL/QSYSOPR) ACTTMR(170) +
INACTTMR(*SEC15) LINESPEED(19200) WORDLEN(8) PARITY(*NONE) +
STOPBITS(1) TRANSFORM(*YES) MFRTYPMDL(*IBM2391) +
PPRSRC1(*CONT132) PPRSRC2(*NONE) ENVELOPE(*NONE) +
ASCII899(*NO) IMGCFG(*NONE) CHRID(*SYSVAL) +
RMTLOCNAME('PRT04') USRDRVPGM(QGPL/TSPLPRD) TEXT('Epson +
LQ-2080 (IBM mode) (using TSPLPRD - /prt1)')
Here's documentation on the TSPLPRD driver program and how to get it (note the need to run SETRMTPQ after you create the device to set the RMTPRTQ value):

For the Remote OutQ settings for the HP Print Servers see here (set with SETRMTPQ command - same value you'd use for RMTPRTQ if using a Remote OutQ):

Anybody using Epson LQ2080 printers? I'm wrestling with
configuring these
things again after dealing with a hurricane in Houston. The
customer has
two, and they are attached to an HP Jet Direct EX Plus 3
box and an HP Jet
Direct 300X box.
Any ideas as to the proper configurations?
