Not sure if this is exactly what you want, but look at this on the CREATE TABLE statement -

CREATE TABLE VERN/LONGNAMES (NAMELONGERTHAN10CHARACTERS FOR COLUMN
NM10CHRPLS CHAR (10 ) NOT NULL WITH DEFAULT)

Columns can also be changed after table creation, using the ALTER TABLE statement.

In DDS, I can use the ALIAS keyword to create an "Alternate name" for a field (column) name. Is there anything equivalent to the DDS ALIAS capability at the column level in SQL DDL? Or will I need to create a separate view?

Thanks,
