Earlier you mentioned that they gave you "this is how we do it in MySQL".
It is not available yet, but there is the DB2 Storage Engine for MySQL
that should be coming soon. That could hold the key to solving your
dilemma. When I get my hands on it, I plan to use it to get my MySQL data
from open source applications migrated to DB2, but I also want to
experiment with using it to access DB2 data from other
platforms/languages. Most languages support MySQL in one form or another,
so if the performance of the storage engine is as good as I am hoping, it
could open up a world of possibilities for data integration.
