Thanks for your reply Helge
I apologize for my ignorance, but since I CAN print a different spool file
that uses an overlay, to the same printer, I assume that the printer is
okay to use for ALL overlays.
Is my assumption incorrect?

I think the problem is preparing the output for the physical printer.
It is an IPDS or a 'normal' PCL printer. A PCL printer requires HPT
(Host Print Transform) to be activated.

Subject: Overlay printing

Afternoon everyone
I am attempting to create an overlay for a print file.
Here is what I have accomplished so far.
I have confirmed that the printer I am printing to can print with
overlays.
The report can be printed WITHOUT an overlay, but when I attempt to print
the report WITH an overlay, the status of the spool is PND, and nothing I
try seems to budge it.
My assumption is that its got to be the overlay.
Now not knowing what information to give, if anyone can help me out by
asking me what they need to know, I would be very grateful

Thanks in advance
