Dave, have you enabled "Performance Management for System i" (the latest
name for PM/400)? It collects data from your system and reports it to
IBM in a summary fashion so that you can obtain graphs that will help
you make your decision. See sample reports at
http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/i/support/pm/index.html .
What tools do you use to monitor performance on your system?
iSeries Navigator has some monitors that will generate helpful graphs.
As a loyal IBM employee, I will mention IBM Performance Tools for people
who like green-bar paper. Perhaps you or your business partner are more
familiar with www.mpginc.com/perfnav1.htm or similar vendor products.

if a system has enough "batch capability" vs "interactive capability" as a function of the processors we have turned on? I'm trying to determine if I need to turn on another processor and if I only need to turn on its "batch" functions or interactive as well. I've been told by an IBM business partner turning on batch is much cheaper than interactive.
