You can make an overlay and OVPRPTF that onto your print files. Host
Print Transform works fine with overlays. Or you can copy your print
file into your test environment and CHGPRTF to get the overlay on.
There's a place for the overlay front or back (FRONTOVL, BACKOVL). Use
AFP workbench to create the overlay. Build the image with Word or Paint
or whatever and print it to the AFP printer. Open the captured file in
AFP workbench and save it as an overlay. FTP the result into a physical
file and CRTOVL. (CHGPF to levelchk=no first.) Your overlay must be
available to the spool file writer as it is picked up when HPT is run by
the spool writer, not when your program writes to the print file.

Subject: Printing TEST background on every page in test environment

Hello,

For our test environment, we would like to have a backgroud to every
page we print from there (ideally a big light grey TEST).

If possible, I would like something more visible than PRTTXT. Also we
have a few programs that override the printer file so it is not printed,
so that is only a partial solution.

As most of our printing goes through Host Print Transform (HPT), I was
thinking of using a custom WSCST that would setup a PCL macro overlay in
the :INITPRT section but so far it has not worked. I don't know if it's
my limited PCL knowledge or if I should place the macro elsewhere, or
...

Has anyone made this work or has another solution to identify test
printed output?

Thank you and have a nice day.
Thierry Bernard.
