FWIW, i don't do it that way either i do the download "2-step" and FTP the
files after they are downloaded to my PC...that was just to provide an
alternative to doing the 2-step. but i haven't noticed any "slow"
performance using mapped drives personally, but with 6 LPARs it's just
easier for me IMO to do the ol' 2-step...

Ack! I would never map a drive and download directly to it. The drive
mapping performance is usually incredibly slow.
