Was wondering if it was posible to save the objects needed for a iSCSI
attached xSeries PC and move them to another System i.
Actually, here's the scenario:
Current has a model 270 @ v5r4 with IxA attached xSeries.
270 to be replaced with 515 @v5r4, which doesn't support IxA, so new
xSeries PC's to be purchase to attach via iSCSI.
The IxA attached xSeries is running Windows 2003 Web edition with a
ColdFusion based extranet website. In order to minimize downtime,
what we'd like to do is the following:
During validation and testing of the RISC to RISC migration, go ahead
and set up the new iSCSI attached PC with Windows and Coldfusion and a
copy of the current web site. Note site is static, all the dynamic
info is retrieved from iSeries stored procedures.
Save the System i "stuff" required for the iSCSI attached xSeries.
Wipe the 515.
Perform the real RISC-to-RISC migration.
Restore the "stuff" save above for the iSCSI attached xSeries.
Vary the iSCSI on and have the extranet site back up.
Can this be done?
Any tips/tricks?
What would all the "stuff" we'd need to save and restore the iSCSI?
Thanks in advance,
Charles
