The two things you said here do not go hand and hand. You do not have to move to DB2 Web Query when you go to V6R1. The old query still exists in V6R1 so you do not have to use DB2 Web Query and you get a few free licenses to DB2 Web Query to use or not use as you see fit. We did look at DB2 Web Query and other alternatives to a non-green-screen query option for our users and settled on an offering from Mason Consulting named WebQuery http://www.masoncci.com/products.html for the majority of our users who just use query to build simple lists of records. It is not in the same league as DB2 Web Query or NGS or Showcase by SPSS but it gets the job done and did some things that green-screen query didn't do like user level file security, direct output to Excel.

Subject: DB2 Web Query and alternatives

We're preparing for a system upgrade from V5R3 to the new i OS 6.1. One
of the things I'm concerned about is the cost of DB2 Web Query, and it's
additional add-ons.

I would appreciate any comments those of you who have done the V6R1
upgrade can share about your level of satisfaction with DB2 Web Query,
unexpected costs, and cost of Information Builders add-ons, or alternative
products you have reviewed or chosen as alternatives to DB2 Web Query.

Thanks
Steve
