The SPT provides a hardware-centric view of your system. That's nice
when you want to add/delete/move components or do 'what ifs' for
changing the layout or moving components around to free up slots and
whatnot. Most recently I used it to tweak the card placement in one of
our systems to support added 5761 Fibre tape controllers.
If you just want to browse a pre-made config, the printout is probably
fine. If you find yourself questioning the BP's decisions, you might
want to use the SPT to help validate why card placement was done the way
they presented it to you.
