I'll second the comment about Alabama taxes. Our company, as a wholesaler, doesn't deal with sales tax, but we have to deal with excise taxes, and Alabama has am excise tax on just about everything and the rule differs from item-to-item. That might be OK, but there are local options (and the jurisdictions frequently overlap!) and the rules (how to calculate, not just the rate) vary significantly. We stayed out of Alabama for decades just because of the tax complexity.

I would recommend Vertec software, if you are going to run the package on an
i Series. They have GUI oriented functions also as I best remember.
The software is especially good with the Alabama Sales Tax situation which
is probably one of the more complex set of state rules. I have installed
this software for a number of companies integrating it with both their Order
Entry, AR and AP softwares.
