Rich,

The idea of data entry on a Treo is quite funny. :-)

Only if you think of data entry as equating to a 5250 session.

I literally have hundreds of users using Palm OS for data entry. You just
need a program optimized for the particular task at hand. Examples of Palm
OS data entry programs I have done:

- Mobile order entry (with barcode scanning)
- Athlete evaluation by recruiters for college sports
- Ticket scanning/validation for events at various venues
- Collecting route statistics for a transportation mgmt company

Often, collecting data at the source is the most efficient way to do data
entry. When that requires the mobility of a handheld instead of even a
laptop, I've historically found Palm OS devices to be a very a very good
solution. Depending on the scenario, I may do the data exchange via
cellular network (eg Treos), 802.11 wireless (eg Tungsten TX or Symbol), or
just local storage with batch transfers done via USB docking or memory
storage cards. You actually get alot of processing power, quite literally
in the palm of your hand, for a fairly cheap price.

More on topic, TN5250 can be an effective tool for administrators and
support staff who are on call.
