I have a file which has two fields, ESCAN (bar code numbers) and EITNBR
(Item numbers).....I need to select the unique records that have duplicate
barcodes where the item number is DIFFERENT. An item can have multiple
bar code numbers, but a bar code cannot have multiple item numbers.

Untested, but I think this should work:

SELECT a.escan,a.eitnbr
FROM yourfile as a
JOIN yourfile as b
ON a.escan = b.escan AND a.eitnbr <> b.eitnbr
ORDER BY a.escan, a.eitnbr
