We're in the process of activating our new IBM TS3310 Tape Mini-Monster. I say "Mini-Monster" because it's a whole lot smaller than the StorageTek Purple Tapel Eater we have now. The old monster used 9840 tapes, the new one uses LTO-4.

Now the fun-- I'm trying to track down any manuals, leaflets, etc. that tell how to configure and use the thing on the iSeries.

It's configured with 3 virtual libraries-- two for our two iSeries machines, one for the Network.

The two iSeries libraries have 2 and 1 tape drives respectively; each drive is attached to its own ?5704? fiber attachment.

When the CE set it up originally we turned on AutoConfig and got a configuration--- the system with two fiber adapters got 2 TAPMLBs, and one drive attached to each MLB. The 2nd system just got a tape drive. Is that right? Shouldn't the 2nd system get an MLB as well?

And then I looked at the library map thru the GUI, and discovered that the drives we were plugged into didn't line up with the way the drives were assigned to the virtual libraries.

So I moved the cables, deleted the old configurations, and turned AutoConfig back on. Then I turned it back off, went to the library controls and varied off the drives and the library, turned AutoConfig back on, then varied the library and drives back on. And AutoConfig is ignoring them.

And... *cough* the "only" thing I did wrong was to shut down the web interface without logging out. -Then- I read the manual and noticed that it said not to do that... What happened when I did that, and how do I fix it???

Would rebooting the little monster help??

*sigh*

== Why doesn't AutoConfig Auto Config?

== What settings am I overlooking?

== I need a pointer to a manual or instructions for configuring on the iSeries

BONUS QUESTION--

== Any folks with Help Systems/Robot Save experience and TMS3310??
