RE: when using writef, getting hex 8E when im writing hex 0A

Simple really, 0D0A is ASCII for CRLF.

RPG deals (mainly) in EBCDIC.

Assuming you open the file as ASCII, the system will convert between EBCDIC & ASCII.

Try using x'0d25'

Better yet, use a constant as shown here:

I am writing a file to the IFS using the following:





D writef PR 10I 0 ExtProc('write')

D hFile 10I 0 Value

D pBuffer * Value

D nBytesToWrt 10U 0 Value





buffer = %trim(data(xx)) + x'0D' + x'0A';

writef(fd: %addr(buffer): %len(%trim(buffer)) ) ;



when I look at the file on the pc in hex mode, the OA becomes a 8E.



Any ideas why?
