A blanket "log files do not need journalling" may not be correct either.
Let's say someone is using the log files for auditing, and not journal
entries. Now, if someone modifies the data in the log files, and you
don't have the journal entry, you won't know who.
Or the log file that someone meant to purge older dates and forgot the
WHERE clause thus blasting all records. Now they'd like to be able to do
a RMVJRNCHG.
Or how about the temporary file that is only there long enough to transmit
to a bank for direct deposit? Fired one person for using UPDDTA on that
to affect their bank account.
