Not dedicated but available. That is one optical drive for the physical
system is required and it can be switched between LPARs as needed. This
rule has not changed.

LPAR Optical requirement






I know that in the past a dedicated optical drive was required for each
LPAR; is this still the case? It seems odd to me that this requirement
is kept for hardware that could potentially only be used once in the
lifetime of a system.
