I may have missed the original threads here, but it sounds like someone is
interested in certification for software/vendors/etc?

IBM alread does this to a point.

application/service/productcertification...somethoughts...

Don,

The rules for certification for technical skills are difficult to design,
let alone pass. How would you make a set of rules that would apply to a
partner selling hardware AND a partner selling tools software AND
a partner
selling application software AND a partner selling services.

It is easy when you review product, because it is one man's opinion. It is
nice to read your opinion, but that does not make me buy or reject a
product. If a company does perform due diligence when selecting
software or
hardware or services, why would there be a need for
certification? Simply to
narrow down the first selection group of vendors - something that
is already
being done.

I, for one, appreciate that you have nominated COMMON for this venture. On
the other hand, it would be nice if you approached COMMON with an offer to
help, rather than push them from the outside.

Jim,

I was thinking more along the line of a simpler cert process
that would be
come an industry standard for our segment of the industry....

Was thinking further last night on this...this would be a great
thing for
COMMON and IBM to do a joint venture with...
