Marco,
I have found that you need to state the connection between the 2 files
twice. Once to select the field that has the new value, and a 2nd time
to eliminate any null values from mis-matches.

Try this

UPDATE EI_Gcfmd A SET A.DESEMD =

(SELECT B.DESEMD

FROM EI_GcfmdMS B

WHERE B.GFMEMD = A.GFMEMD AND
B.EMBEMD = A.EMBEMD AND
B.MODEMD = A.MODEMD AND
B.CIAEMD = A.CIAEMD AND
B.SOCemd = A.SOCemd)

WHERE EXISTS

(SELECT 1

FROM EI_GcfmdMS B

WHERE B.GFMEMD = A.GFMEMD AND
B.EMBEMD = A.EMBEMD AND
B.MODEMD = A.MODEMD AND
B.CIAEMD = A.CIAEMD AND
B.SOCemd = A.SOCemd)
