We recently had what I'll politely call "climate
control failures" in the server room and it eventually
dawned on me that I didn't get an email event notification
from the tape library. Checking back, it appears that at
the 4.40 library code level, email notification worked just
fine but in level 6.20 and 6.30, it doesn't... so if you
aren't getting event notifications, don't be like me and
ASSuME it means everything is just fine.
That's a 3573-L2U, LTO3 library... I really like the RMU
interface, I can even check Library Status and see the
internal temperature (it's 30.2 C as I type this).
I've reloaded the 4.40 level code. IBM sent me a 6.35
"test" but it didn't do any better; they say a new release
is coming "soon". As soon as I get it, I will test by
trying to write on a write-protected cartridge and see if I
get a notification. (I guess I should have thunk of that
when I upgraded to 6.20 but it never crossed my mind.)
