What do you mean by "clunky and unstable"?

I've used it for several years and have never had a problem with
stability. If you mean that it's not a snazzy interface when you call it
clunky, that is true, but for a simple to use quick way to directly edit a
file it works great.

That's why I use it and am attached to it. For a quick way to edit files
that is much better than DFU, it beats the heck out of spending hundreds
or thousands of dollars on one of the fancier products.

One clarification, it is not open source. The author has dropped support
and is not willing to give the source to anyone else to continue
supporting the product.

Could somebody please explain why it is that so many people are so
attached to WRKDBF, and so upset over its demise? I've had to use it on
one or two customer boxes that don't have QuestView, and I find it so
clunky and unstable as to be barely usable.

Sure, it's open source freeware, but so are OpenOffice, Firefox,
Thunderbird, and GIMP, and none of them are clunky or unstable.
