The internal search function is temporarily non-functional. The current search engine is no longer viable and we are researching alternatives.
As a stop gap measure, we are using Google's custom search engine service.

Lots of people contributing to this thread seem to be ignoring modern
application development technology.
Programs and programmers are ambivalent about hardware and operating
systems because they are isolated from both by virtual machines (JVM or
CLR).
This is the marketplace reality IBM (and others) are facing today. There
no longer is any reason to prefer one hardware architecture or operating
system over another other than sheer $/performance ratios. ALL programs
written to a virtual machine will run on ANY hardware and ANY operating
system. (Yes, IBM i has a virtual desktop and yes, it can run DotNet CLR.)
So I see IBM's recent moves to deemphasize differentiations in hardware
and operating systems as very logical. They have to market these machines
and operating systems as good places to run your virtual machines. "Good"
is going to be based on price, performance, and support. Containers and
frameworks are going to make more sense as places to invest development
and marketing dollars as the ambivalence about hardware and operating
systems grows.
