For a strictly SQL method, ALAIS is the only way to go.

You can also use OVRDBF.

Another option is to define the file as a partioned table using SQL DDL instead of DDS.  You end up
with a multi-member physical like you have now, but SQL sees everything as being in a single member.
Biggest gotcha to doing this is you need some additional chargeable licenses programs installed.
