Mike,

Just because your core application vendor doesn't support tape
encryption, doesn't mean you can't use it. We have installed LTO-4
Encrypted tape drives on all types of machines, and we have even installed
"black box" encryption devices that we resell onto older tape technology
drives without any problems.

Your application vendor shouldn't hold you hostage.

Subject: Second ASP at a remote location

We are a single iSeries shop looking for ways to replicate or store some
SAVE files elsewhere since our core application vendor does not support
tape encryption. Is it feasible to set up a second ASP at a remote
location? - if so what hardware & software would be required? - how
about communication needs?

We are exploring sending the save file to a windows server then
replicating in along with our other SAN - but this appears to be a very
time consuming process.

Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

(I get my replies in journal format so if I don't respond promptly that
is why)
