RE: Al Barsa

Wow - I took today off (it was Spring Break here and our youngest, 11, was
after me to take a day off to hang with him) and hit the list just now and
see this. I am absolutely blown away.

I first met Al at a Common back in the 80's and he was perfectly willing to
answer questions for a newbie at CUDs. We kept in touch over the years after
that and always ran into each other at Common or the Midrange Marco Island
conferences. As others have noted he was happy to talk on the phone anytime
too. I'd call him and he called me. I was going up to Rochester for the
first time about 8 years ago and he was briefing me and telling me what to
expect. He said he would be their too and would look me up. Now obviously
I'm not one of the bigger names here :-) I was sitting in one of the
conference rooms and there were folks there from some BIG companies gathered
around the table and he pops in and tells me he'd get with me latter. The
looks on folks faces was classic :-) Was that AL BARSA :-) ? Yep :-)

My thoughts and prayers go out to his wife and kids. What a terrible loss.
God keep them all.

I've just been given the news that Al Barsa died last night. No
details yet - will pass those along as I hear them.

Al has been a friend for many years and a long-time contributor to
this list - we'll miss him.
