RE: Using a TIMESTAMP field in a WHERE CLAUSE....

where date(timstp) between '2008-01-01' and '2008-12-31'
where timstp between '2008-01-01-00.00.00.000000' and
'2008-01-31-23.59.59.999999'
I suspect the second would perform a little better - don't know how
much.

If there's an index on the timestamp column (or is SQL would build one)
the second would perform MUCH faster. In the first case the system can't
use the index since you're not actually selecting on the column that's
indexed, you're selecting on the result of a function. This will result
in a tablescan. In the second case you can use the index.
