Nope - it is an itsy baby 270 at V5R3 running 2Gb of memory.
It was previously running with just 1Gb. Doubling the memory
dropped CPU utilization from about 80% to 50% and reduced the
execution time by about 65%.
A few years ago I read a PDF from an IBM Web site. It delineated a
performance analysis of WAS under a stress test. They initially
couldn't drive CPU usage past about 60% no matter how many threads they
configured their application server instance to run. They later loaded
multiple instances of WAS and used a load balancer between each
instance, which finally did drive CPU to 100%. I seem to recall that
ZEND supports something comparable to multiple application server
instances, but I don't recall if it's a separate product or how to
configure it.
This bit of trivia may not even be useful. Were you expecting PHP to
perform as well as RPG CGI?
