Charles,
I don't know what processor feature of 270 Jon has (mine is a 22A2) but
I have 2 Gb and I was running this guy at 100% this morning with PHP
calls from PASE. I noticed that whenever I started my blog instance it
would run slow and the CPU would be pegged at 100%. I had a bunch of
ZENDCOREAP jobs running, each at 6-8%. A little investigating showed
that I was getting hammered by trackback spam which I had failed to put
adequate controls on. Adding some filters to my firewall took care of it
and now the CPU is idling at 10%.
The point is that the PHP/PASE jobs did take up almost all available CPU
so I am pretty sure that my 270 only has a single core. Jon's is
probably similar.

Hey Jon, did you see my other post?
It seems like it could be a CPU bound, if the PHP process is basically single threaded and you have
multi cores, you wouldn't see 100%.
For instance, with two cores, you'd see 50%, and that is what you were seeing right?
