From your article, when I try to start the SSH daemon with:

SBMJOB CMD(CALL QP2SHELL PARM('/QOpenSys/usr/sbin/sshd')) JOB(SSHD)

I get the following:

Could not load host key:
/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/SC1/OpenSSH/openssh-3.5p1/etc/ssh_host_key
Could not load host key:
/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/SC1/OpenSSH/openssh-3.5p1/etc/ssh_host_rsa_key
Could not load host key:
/QOpenSys/QIBM/ProdData/SC1/OpenSSH/openssh-3.5p1/etc/ssh_host_dsa_key
Disabling protocol version 1. Could not load host key
Disabling protocol version 2. Could not load host key
sshd: no hostkeys available -- exiting.

Any ideas?

It sounds like the server host keys have not been created yet. See the "To
run the sshd daemon on i5/OS" section here:
http://www-03.ibm.com/servers/enable/site/porting/tools/openssh.html

For what it's worth, you only need to start sshd if you want to connect
*into* the system. You do not need to start sshd to connect *from* the
system to some other server.
