Correct. IBM has discouraged the use of 'select * into :myds' for many
releases. Ever since the release where, if you did add a field at the end
and did not recompile your program, then it was a hard halt instead of a
little warning in the job log.
Granted, if your software expanded the size of a field, like our vendor
who increased the size of the item number, then your programs won't halt.
You just may get truncated item numbers on the report.
