This is a huge problem, and one which Rochester just totally missed. They
should have been openly talking about this for the last two years. It's
kind of in the same category as marketing the platform, but why would they
want to do that?

I don't doubt that, Al. But the again, I would hope that any vendor
performs regression testing on any new release of the operating system.
The fact that this release requires a recompile shouldn't add
considerably to what I would think is a standard part of each release
upgrade.
I just think the requirement to recompile is being overblown a little
bit, except for those folks who don't have the source code. And of
course, those who aren't on maintenance.
